23 Jul Adult Education & Family Literacy Week
National Adult Education and Family Literacy (AEFL) Week was launched by the National Coalition for Literacy in 2009 in partnership with congressional leaders to raise national awareness of the importance of adult education and family literacy. NCL has championed the observance on behalf of the field ever since.
This year AEFL Week will be celebrated September 13–19, 2026 to raise the visibility of adult education and family literacy and recognize the importance of this work to individuals, families, communities, and our nation. I hope you will join NCL and others across the country who support adult education and literacy in celebrating AEFL Week and using it as an opportunity to amplify adult education and family literacy in your state and local community by highlighting your learners, programs, educators, partnerships, successes, and impact.
